.j. 4. ! RECORD OF THE PRINCIPAL RACE OF THIS AFTERNOON I AT CHURCHILL DOWNS J, — — _ — , 4 The Clark Handicap will be the racing magnet at Louisville this afternoon. It will be contested by good horses and should prove productive of an exciting finish. Originally it was a race for three-year-olds at two miles. In those days the idea of a mile and a sixteenth race being called a long-distance race would have been laughed at. It was assumed as a matter of course that a sound horse would stay any distance within reason, and they did. They would today if properly trained. The Clark was won by-Hodge last year in its fastest time at its present distance. He will not lack backing to repeat the feat this afternoon. The long record of the race, its winners and placed horses are as follows: IM, First. Jockeys. Wt. Second. Wt. Third. Wt. Val.
