CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Quentin Peeco probably will not ride again this year. George Smith probably will lie a starter in the Brooklyn Derby at Aqueduct June 2S. John Whalcn will retire Pawhuska to the stud, the horse having broken down in training. Horace Paul and George Glydon have arrived at Latonia from California, to remain throughout the meeting. R. T. Wilson has sold to J. W. P.mgle the two-year-old chestnut gelding Mesmer and the horse will nice in Canada. Capt. E. B. Cassatts fast sprinter Spring Board, by Aeronaut -Bcltie P.ouncer. is now I gelding. He has beta broken to saddle, and he is an especial favorite with Captain Cassatt, who rides him frequently. The five Imported English thoroughbreds consigned to S. L. Frank at New York brought MM when offered at sale by the collector of customs in default of the payment of duty amounting to S2.SM The nine-year-old stallion, The Battler, brought MM of the 50. Bunchy, an imported filly in the Often Lewisohn racing establishment, has gone amiss and will be retired for the year. She is a three-year-old daughter of Llangwim and Bunch Crass. She raced only twice in this country and was unplaced on both occasions. tf twenty-four foals of this year at Mr. Wing-fields Nevada Stock farm five colts and four fillies are by Deutschland. one colt by Ossary. one colt and four fillies by Montgomery, four colts and four fillies by Starbottle and one filly by Bay del Sierras. Ninenteen of the farms broodmares were mated with Honey wood last spring. The Newmarket Stewards Handicap of .5 MI. substituted lor the Wokingham Stakes, was run off in England Wednesday and resulted in Lord Sa-villes All Serene, with Hulse in the saddle, just lieating E. Hultons Torloisk. ridden by C. Childs. by a l.eck. .1. Potters Caldervulc, with Gardner up. was third, two lengths behind. Eleven horses went to the post. The betting was: All Serene. 20 to 1, Torloisk. 7 to 2 and Caldervale. It to 1. Trainer Thomas II. McCrecry has shipped Frederick II. Primes steeplechaser Fattauta. winner of the Middlesex Hunt Cup at Brookline last week to Prides Crossing. Mass.. to be turned out for the present. lie will be reserved for the autumn hunt meetings. lie was one of the first of the imported steeplechasers to win this season, and his trainer predicts that he will make a top-notchor. Mr. Prince has bought from II. H. Humes of St. Ix.uis. the six -year old b:iy gelding Monsieur lerci. by Monsieur Beaucaire- -Penita. and it is expected that this good plater will be racing over the jumps in the near future.
