SOME EXCELLENT RACING AT HAMILTON. Commonada Defeats All Smiles in the Grimsby Handicap in Fast Time — Track Talk. Hamilton. Ont.. June 27. — Three handicaps were on the program at Hamilton this afternoon. He-sides the Dundas Handicap, a steeplechase over the two-mile course, there were the Yalcartier Handicap at three-iiuarters and the Grimsby Handicap at a mile and U eighth. Tropaoolum. which won in his initial effort at the recent Ottawa meeting. repeated his winning performance this afternoon, by making a runaway affair of tbe steeplechase and scoring by a head in a driving finish with Morpeth. Commonada showed a return to his best form, when he won tie- Grimsby Handicap, in which he led from tiie start and beat All Smiles by a length. In the absence of George Walker, who is eon-fined t his home. Pax was saddled by his brother. John Walker. Jockey Metcalf has been engaged to ride Achievement in the Derby tomorrow. G. Rynie will have the mount on King Neptune. Jack Adkins lias arranged to ship the R. J. Mackenzie horses to Fort Erie, where they will remain for a couple of months. It is Adkins plan to heap the string at that course and to ship what horses lie wishes to start at Windsor to that track to fill their engagements and immediately return to Fort Erie. W. Stormont will send his stable from Fort Erie to Chicago at the conclusion of the Niagara Racing Associations meeting. W. O. Parmer announced that the Edcnwold yearlings would Ik- disposed of at Saratoga August 5. and that eighteen of J. E. Maddens would be sold at the same time. In the Edcnwold band is the oldest Star Shoot yearling foaled in 1910. He is out of Ohiyesa and was foaled in January. E. J. Crawford, who is training that consistent two-year-old. Golden Rantam. lias turned Paymaster and Greenwood oyer to H. Marlman. who will train thorn himself in the future. Crawford has arranged to ship M irshon to Saratoga. In her twenty starts this year Golden Rantam lias won six times, finished second four times and third five time-. Her winnings total over ,000. William « ! ::rtli lias arranged to ship the jumpers. Emerald Gem and Shannon River, to Saratoga at the conclusion of tie- Hamilton meeting. Incog, winner of tic opening race of the meeting, i* a gift colt. He was presented to the Havies l«oys by John E. Madden. Allie Gates hns taken over the string of Cana-dian-breds owned by E. A. Campl ell. There are eight in the band. Iliduuutcd was badly cut down in her race on Saturday and will be out of commission for some time. Arthur N. Elrod has been engaged to take charge of the betting rings at Mount Royal Park and King Edward Park at Montreal and Essex Park at Hot Springs. Tin1 last-named meeting will be held in Ieceml»er. Accommodation for 500 horses will be provided on the grounds. The Canadian branch of the Thoroughbred Horse Association will hold a meeting at the Royal Co:i-naught Hotel tomorrow night. The meeting is an informal MM and action taken by some of the members recently will 1m- discussed. C. R. Anderson has wired jockey Obert engaging him to ri.ic the gelding Mars Cassidy in the Fort Erie Silling Stakes. Anderson will ship his horses from Kentucky to Fort Erie this week. At the recent 11 ting of the Canadian Racing Associations the sus|ieiision against steeplechase jockey R. Crayvford was continued. Jockeys W. Ward and II. Lafferty were restored to good standing.
