AQUEDUCT PATRONS UNDETERRED BY RAIN. Election First, hut Disqualified Daddys Choice Wins a Surprise Victory Yellowstone First. NeAV York, July 3. Last nights rain was followed bv thunderstorms while the racing Avent on at Aqueduct today, but the sport Avas of high quality and a goodly crowd Avas present. August JSelmonts Deer Trap was .warded the first race after finishing second to Election. It marked the first disqualification of the meeting and was caused by the swerving of Election before reaching the eighth post. Ilaynes, who rode Deer Trap, claimed a foul and after calling Shilling Avho had the mount on Election, to the stand, the stewards ordered Deer Trap placed first, Philippic second and Jock Scot third. Election was close to the inner rail when the interference took place. The handicap resulted in a surprise Aviien Daddy Choice, under a light impost, was returned the winner by the narrowest of margins. Jockey Shilling, on Startling, was caught napping right at the finish and Avent from a mild hand ride to a drive Avhen it was too late. Lorac and Startling had made the running to tho stretch turn, Avliere The Decision took a brief lead, but Startling came again and. Avhen Hearing the finish appeared like an easy Avinner. but his rider not seeing the fast coming Daddvs Choice on the inside until too late. The Brighton Stable broke its streak of poor luck when Yellowstone took the third. Jockev Mack Garner was taken ill and forced cancel his engagements for the afternoon. The stewards took action today to stamp out tho rough riding Avliich has been prevalent. H. Shilling and Thomas McTaggart were both suspended. The former for three days for the foul he committed in the first nice, for which Election was disqualifed, and the latter for five days for jostling in the fourth race. Republican was claimed out of the fifth race for ,100 by Mrs. E. Arlington, who Avas represented by Transit. Jockev McCahey is also on the ground for five days for crowding the others at the start of the fifth race Saturday. Gallop, after winning the fifth race, was bid up by J.
