CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. The Finn is going along easily following his recent dissapointing races. Stromboli is rapidly rounding into form after his recent coughing spell. J. W. Johnson has taken a contract on the apprentice rider Ammauns in Kentucky. Paul J. Miles has taken up King liox and will prepare him for the Chicago meeting. Trainer E. W. Heffner has decided to ship the Hallenbeck stable to Saratoga July 12. Former jockey Helmer Trueman claimed Merry Jubilee at Delorimier Park a day or two ago. Mrs. Nettie Arlington, whose horses are being trained by E. II. Garrison, has bought Transit from Mrs. J. Shilling. E. 1!. Elkins has arrived at Fort Erie from Latonia. Itefore leaving Latonia he bought Primero from E. Cook for ,500. Sturdee was withdrawn from the first race at Hamilton Friday because of an attack of fever, but it is not considered serious. Sheridan Clark will serve as racing secretary and presiding judge for the King Edward Park meeting, and James Milton as starter. Frigerio, which has just been sold to E. R. Brad-ley for the reported price of 2,000, cost W. H. linker 50 as a yearling. The colt was bred by John I. Carr. Advices from Reno are to the effect that the Nevada town is filled to the overflowing point with visitors gathered there for the race meeting, which opened last Saturday. J. O. Kecne. who has tentatively accepted an offer to go to Russia to train the stable of the late .Michael do Lazereff, had charge of the horses of that stable in 1902 and 1903 and scored a great success with them. J. Howard Lewis has sold to W. M. barter the eight-year-old chestnut gelding, El Hart, by Fatherless out- of Network. El Hart raced creditably through the field last year and in previous years under the colors of Jospeh E. Widener, but thus far this season he has failed to win brackets. An ordinance by which it is proposed to annex the Latonia race course to the city, of Covington, and charge the track a license fee of 00 for each race, has been passed by the city commissioners of Covington. Harvey Myers, president of tin; Latonia Jockey Club, will not comment upon the action of the commissioners, but it is expected the matter will reach the courts. The Newbury Hunt Cup Handicap of ,000 was run at Newbury Friday, over a course of a mile. F. Farqitharsons Mount William, with Whalley in the saddle, was first past the post, two lengths ahead of W. Singers Sir Eager, ridden by Fox. Lord Carnarvons Volta, which started favorite, was third, a short neck behind. The betting was; Mount William, 20 to 1; Sir Eager, 0 to 1, and Volta, 3 to 2. Green Jones, vanquisher of the hitherto unbeaten Harry Kelly in the Harold Stakes at Latonia last Wednesday, was secured by his present owner, W. II. linker, at private sale. He is a son of tin; Hanover sire Handsel, and is out of Floreal, which won the Kentucky Oaks in 1909 for Fletcher Dryer, a son-in-law of the late noted turfman, Thomas II. Stevens. Green Jones has much imported blood in his pedigree, being a close relative of the great American-bred horse Caiman, one of the noted horses raced in England by the late Pierre Lorillard.
