LIVINGSTONS EXTENSIVE PURCHASES. Before his departure for New York yesterday, Jefferson Livingston stated that he had comiuis- sioned trainer Joseph Butters, of Newmarket, England, to buy for his account any likely youngsters that might strike the fancy of the veteran trainer, but to purchase preferably juvon- iles sired by Spearmint, Polynielus and William the Third. Last year trainer Butters and AV. II. Morgan of London, England, bought for Mr. Livingston thirty -eight sucklings at the Newmarket sales sired by some of the best English stallions. Six of this consignment have been transferred to America and fourteen others are in prospect to make the American consignment of twenty complete. The other eighteen youngsters will be disposed of. None of the colts sent here cost less than -100 pounds .0001. Three fillies and nine colts in the new band of twenty to be raced in America under the Liv- iugstou colors an; by Polynielus. Spearmint and William the Third. The colts will be sent to Ken- tucky immediately on their nroival and receive their early racing lessons. At present Mr. Livingston has a number of older racers turned out in Kentucky. Those roaming in blue grass paddoiks now include Koyal II.. Prince Eugene. Fleiiro, Trim Harry, Princess Kathleen and San ward. During the Saratoga meeting both strings owned by Mr. Livingston and trained respectively by Herman Brandt and Mose Cnldhlatt will he raced at the Spa. The Brandt band of racers will, at the expiration of the Saratoga meeting, be returned to Kentucky and those under .Mose Gold-blatt will be kept east. Jockey Joe hederis, who was retained by the stable, was given his release several days ago ami is now at his home in Carbonado, AVash., where he will remain until the opening of the Kentucky fall season and then resume riding as a free lance. of f b s c ? 1 " 1 J 1 : 1 , ,
