SANGALLOS FAST RACE AT RENO. Ry Peter Clark. Reno, Nov., July 23. The second summer meeting of nineteen days at Reno drew to a close on Saturday, July 22. with the running of the P.usiness 3Icns Handicap as the feature, at one mile for a value of ,000. It was won by W. C. Carrolls good colt Saugallo, which has taken the measure of nearly all the good horses on the coast this year. He defeated practically the same horses that he m?t in the Nevada Derby, with the exception of Little String, which finished third. Quite a bit of rivalry has existed between the admirers of Dank anil Saugallo since their last meeting, when Saugallo was so disgracefully ridden and met defeat. Yesterday he turned the tables on them. He was only off the cars two days when they beat him and coming from the lower altitude of the sea level to the high mountain air and, not being acclimated in that short space of time, made him tire badly. Rut the week that he had here afterwards fitteel him and trainer Carroll had him right on edge to meet his opponents, he covering the mile in 1:39. The colt clearly demonstrated that he is a horse of good class. Jockey J. 31clntyres instructions were to "go right out to the front and let them catch you if they can." He took the lead with :i rush, and the race was practically his after the first half was traveled, setting a terrific pace. Ed Cudihee, which is a fast colt was the nearest to him, and with all his early speed he failed to get on equal terms with Saugallo at any time. Dank ran a most disappointing race as lie; was bearing out on all turns, appearing to sulk and finished last. The attendance during the meeting was exceptionally large but the speculation was much lighter than last year. The track conditions were nil that could be desired. It never rained during the nineteen days. Richard Dwyers starting surprised his friends. Ho sent them away as ho formerly did when he was considered one of tho host in tho business. . 3Innagor Schas is to give racing one day each week on Saturdays until early in September, when a fall meeting of nineteen days or more will be given. Nearly all the horses that have participated in the racing here -will remain, as there is no other racing in progress in any near locality for sometime. It is expected that horses available for the fall meeting will be augmented by many horsemen with their strings from the Mexican course at Tijuana . .
