i 1 j , FAVORITES WIN HALF OF THE CARD. Dufferin Park Racing Proves Entertaining to an Increasing Attendance. Toronto. Out., August 3. The usual eight races, mostly of which had large and evenly matched iields, made up the second days card at Dufferin Park today and favorites accounted for half of it. The conditions and the attendance showed an improvement over yesterday. The sixtli race attracted the best band of sprinters of the afternoon and resulted in a keen contest, in which the three placed horses were under a drive at the finish. Sugar King had a lengths advantage, while Nellie B., outstayed Lady Capricious for second place. "William "Walker put over a "good tiling" in Lady Spirituelie, which won the fiftli race with ease after being well backed. The Clinton Stable of Hamilton, trained by Barney Cole, furnished the first two winners in Single and Mama Johnson, both of which won with ease. Early Riser was under a hard drive to heat Page "White . in the fourth, hut the remaining winners scored by comfortable margins. Due to a severe attack of blood poisoning. I. Strikers Col. McDougall had to be destroyed here last night.
