CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. The post time of race 2S202 was incorrectly sent out from Saratoga. The correct time was 2:35, at post 3 minutes. ltegistrar "W. II. Itowe of the Jockey Club lias resumed his official duties after a brief holiday pleasantly spent in the Maine backwoods. Jockey It. Waugh. whose leg was broken when Bill Dudley fell with him in the Shillelah Steeplechase at Saratoga Monday, is reported as doing nicely at the Saratoga Hospital. At first it was feared that he might have been even more seriously hurt. Will Wallace has Big Smoke and several others under his care at the Spa. He has been going along slowly with the three-year-old son of Duke of Ormonde and Gold Lace, but this good colt will undoubtedly bo sent to the races before the close of the meeting. Walter Jennings has learned how to pronounce the name of Sisago, the Sunflower II. Fair Lassie colt lie sent to the post in the last race Monday for A. K. Macomber. The lady who picked the name visited the colt in the paddock and explained to Mr. Jennings that it was pronounced Sisaya, and is an Indian word for "sweetheart." The Casino, at Saratoga, Which achieved such popularity last year, will again be a feature of the season, while for those that are fond of music the band concerts at the various hotels and parks will be an attraction. There will be golf for the morning and polo for the late afternoon to fill the gap between the races and dinner. At the Newmarket Second July meeting. July 20, Louis Winans American-bred colt Vanitie. by Ogtlen Veil, won the Bury Handicap at five-eighths, with 120 pounds up. Wormleighton was the favorite at 3 to 1. Wiudaretta second choice at 4J to 1 and it was 7 to 1 against Vanitie. At the finish it was Vanitie first, Silles. 119 pounds, second, and Wiudaretta, 100 pounds, third. Eleven ran. It was discovered after the running of the Saratoga Handicap that Harry Payne Whitneys Regret had been jumped on and slightly cut. This accident happened 011 the first turn, when? Notter was taking her back. The injury was a slight one, only skin deep, and could have had no effect on her performance, nor will it prevent her from filling her engagements in the Delaware Handicap, Champlaiu Handicap and Saratoga Cup, for which trainer James Itowe is pointing her. The charts failed to tell all that happened to the Harry Payne Whitney stables Bellringer in the last race of Monday. If there was any other starter in the race except the leader that didnt take a bump at Bellringer, it was only because they couldnt get close enough. It was a case of lumber camp rules everybody take a kick at the one thats down in a scrap. Bellringer is -a Burgomaster Vespers colt that will be heard from before the Saratoga meeting is over in better company that he met Monday. Fred Burlew is having a good time meeting old friends about the paddock and grandstand at Saratoga and lamenting the fact that the war is keeping him from racing in France, where he has spent the past several years. Even before Itegret was beaten in the Saratoga Handicap Monday, Burlew would not believe that she was as great a mare as Beldame was when trained by him for Newton Bennington. Burlew expects to have a conference with Clarence Mackay within a few days which will decide his future course on the turf.
