GOOD BEGINNING AT HILLCREST. Toronto, Out.. August 12 Close to five thousand persons witnessed tiie opening days races at Hill-crest Park today. The conditions were ideal and the nine purses were productive of some interesting racing, heads only separating the three placed horses in the first and sixth raees, .Tojam and King Stalwart being the respective winners. It was the formers maiden victory. Enver Bey won the best nice of the day with ease when, he romped home an easy winner over Sallie ODay and Sugar King in the third. The riding of jockey Gross was a feature. He piloted three winners, two of which. May Buena and Eddie Mott, were from this stable of C. A. Davies. Jockey McGraw suffered a broken nose when he was unseated on the first turn by Minstrel in the third race. C. W. Hall purchased Belle of the Kitchen privately after the races. Golden Day bled during the running of the first race and her entry will be refused in future. Jockey J. Bobbins was suspended for the remainder of the meeting by the starter for disobedience at the post. N. R. Sutherlands Texas Tomiuie was destroyed at Dufferin Park yesterday. He reared and fell backward, alighting on his head.
