NEW DATES FOR MOUNT ROYAL RACING. Toronto, Ont.. August 12. At a conference of the management, of the Back River Jockey Club with that of the King Edward Park Jockey Club held today it was decided that the Back River Jockey Club should take over the dates from Saturday. August 19. to Saturday, August 20, for its second meeting of this year at the Mount Royal track. The management of the Back River Jockey Club has decided to make steeplechasing a feature and valuable purses will be given for steeplechase races, one to bo run each afternoon during the seven days racing. There will be no purse of less than 00, while 1916.sh00 and 00 handicaps will be run. Many im-. provements have been made to the plant since the last meeting. A new paddock has been erected: and. the stable accommodations greatly increased.1 As this meeting will precede that at Ottawa it will give horsemen twenty-eight days of racing over good mile courses for valuable liurses in the vicinity of Montreal. Two handicaps will be run next Saturday, the opening day at Mount Royal.
