MINOR RACING AT MONTREAL. Montreal, Que., August 21. It is now practically assured that there will not be a second meeting at King Edward Park this year. The management of the park made the announcement Friday that they would race from August 23 to September 2 if the horsemen would race for 00 purses, but as the horsemen will not accept these purses there probably will not be a meeting and the dates probably will be taken over by the new track, this being fixed up at Lanrairie. This course will be known as Kempton Park, and will be managed by some of those recently interested in King Edward Park. The work of putting the plant into order is now being carried on. A hundred new stalls have already been completed, while two hundred more will be ready at the end of next week. The stands and track are also being put in order. The course is a half-mile one, Aith a half-mile chute, and it is said the promoters will build a mile course for next season.
