NEW DIRECTOR AT WOODBINE Toronto, Ont., November 2. The vacancy caused by the death of D. W. Alexander has been filled by- the election of Col. D. King Smith to the board of directors of the Ontario Jockey Club. Col. Smith, who has just returned from Saloniki, is a son of one of the founders of the club, and the late Dr. Andrew Smith was for many years its guiding genius as chairman of the executive committee. Col. Smith has always been keenly interested in the clubs affairs and until he went to the war had been one of its racing officials. At Tuesdays board meeting, Col. William Hendrie was elected second vice-president of the club.
