DEVONSHIRE NEARING END ONLY TWO MORE DAYS OF A GENEROUSLY-PATRONIZED MEETING REMAINING. Star of Lovo an Easy Winner of the Days Chief Race Improvements to Be Made at the Track Next Year Track Talk. Windsor, Ont., November 2. The offering of the Western Racing Association for the fifth day of the meeting at Devonshire Park was the attraction for a larger crowd this afternoon than on any except the opening day. The weather continued bright and warm, while the track is in splendid condition, for a new course. The turns are declared by the horsemen to be the best on tlie Canadian circuit. Managing director Grant Hugh Browne has already announced that numerous improvements will be made 011 the plant for next year so as to offer greater accommodations. The dates, which have already been announced, will give the club two Saturdays and a holiday. Star of Love, in superb form just now, found it easy to win the handicap that was todays racing feature. J. J. Kane, a local man, purchased the mare Eleanor from F. G. Martin at private sale this morning and turned her over to G. Carroll to train for him during the winter racing season. Gene Elrod was a visitor at the course this morning in the interests of the meeting at the Juarez track. Mr. Elrod is of the opinion that the meeting will be a good one again this year. He is making arrangements for the shipment of horses to Juarez. George Phillips will go from here to Bowie, with twelve horses, and from there he will go to one of the winter tracks. Phillips will take jockey Kop-plenian with him. Charles Campeau, clerk of the scales at Devonshire Park, will leave here on Sunday for his home in New Orleans and will go from there to Oriental Park, where lie is to be an official next winter. A special train of ten-horse cars. will leave hero next week for Key West, Fla., from which point the horses will be shipped, to. Havana for the racing at Oriental Park. Raoul, owned by J. C. Ferriss, pulled up lame after his race on Wednesday. Wishaway pulled up sore after her last race and will be shipped to Toronto at the conclusion of the meeting here. Blair Mock claimed the. mare Marianao out of the last race on Wednesday for 05 and sold her to T. H. Wilson this morning for ,925. Wilson has turned her over to G. Carroll to train for him. E. T. Coltons mare Hanovia was excused again this afternoon by the order of the stewards. The meetilig will com6 to a close on Saturday, when the shipment of horses to the winter tracks will commence. Several of the owners here will winter in Canada with their horses. It was learned this afternoon that the management of the Delorimier Park track at Montreal is seriously considering the adoption of the pari-mutuel system of betting next year. In fact; it is now almost a decided thing that the mutuels will be used.
