The Marrone Stable wis decidedly in the limelight sit Pimlico this afternoon. The two feature races, the Pikes-ville Handicap and the Pimlico Autumn Selling Stakes, were won by J. J. Lillis and "Wooden Shoes, both of which carried the Washington turf-JnanS colore. The promising apprentice, 15. Klee-ger, had the mount on both horses. J. .1. Lillis beat a band of the best sprinters on the ground and Klceger was forced to ride like a veteran to land "his mount a neck in advance of .Tacoba. Water Jiady was third in the race, a head behind .Tacoba. Ihe finish aroused much enthusiasm. It was the best contest of the afternoon. Wooden Shoes made every post a winning one in his race, but at the end had to be ridden out to beat Jem by a scant half length. The latter made :i threatening effort when entering the homestretch, but tired after getting to the leader. The Gilford A. Cochran stable furnished the winner of the opening race in Fairy Wand, which won with speed in reserve after coming from behind in the final quarter. Trentino and Night Owl were withdrawn from todays sale and disposed of privately by T. J. Healev to Cant. W. F. Presgrave. Brave Cunarder changed hands after he won the sixth race. It was a selling race, and II. G. Bed-well failed to protect the horse when Sam Louis bid .,800. Brave Cunarder was entered for ,400. The crowd that turned out at Pimlico was of holiday proportions. It was within a few hundred in point of numbers of the immense gathering of election day, when the attendance was of record-breaking proportions. Frank McGinty, who accompanied the special horse train that left Windsor for Havana on Tuesday last, cabled .Tames Milton that thev had arrived safely. This special was one of the best of its kind that ever left for a winter track. It was made up of ten Pennsylvania express, seventy-four foot, three-door ears, and on it were 150 horses. They were loaded from the chute at the Devonshire Park track and unloaded at the gates of the .Oriental Park course in Cuba. McGintv wireTI that there was not n sick horse on the trip", something remarkable, indeed. Another special, made up of the same equipment, will leave Bowie for Havana shortly. Jockey J. Dominick was an arrival from Windsor, accompanied by D. F. Kinney. Dominick will ride at Bowie, and at the conclusion of that meeting will go to Havana. II. Nensteter has given first call on the apprentice L. Lykes to E. T. ZollieofTer for the Bowie meeting. Nensteter has re-purchased the two-year-old Good Counsel from J. W. Hedrick.
