a, 4. STABLE EARNINGS OF THE MANY HORSES RACED THIS YEAR I BY MR. H. P. WHITNEY i -I As between 1915 and 1910 there was quite a striking disparity in the stable returns of H. P. Whitney. Last year his horses, running in the name of L. S. Thompson, won a total of 0,770. Prior to the opening of racing this year it appeared, on paper, that he would in all probability do even better, but misfortunes of one sort and another assailed liis horses, so that those from which the most was expected could do but little, the result lieing that his stable earnings were less than half of those of 1915. His sturdy old horse of two hemispheres. Borrow, was his best money gainer, as he was the year before, and is quite a remarkable gelding, indeed. The Hamburg two-year-old, Hwfa, was next to Borrow in winnings. Starting but twice, lie won twice and so went into winter quarters undefeated.
