AMERICAN HORSES GOING TO ENGLAND. Mr. Belmont to Send St. Rock and Four Noted Broodmares Across for Stud Use. Lexington, Ky., December 17. When John Miller arrives at New York, Monday, with a carload of horses from Lexington, he will have among his equine passengers five distinguished individuals from August Belmonts Nursery Stud, which are to be sent by the next boat to England. They are the young stallion St. Rock and the broodmares Beldame, Crossways, Delusion and Ferment. St. Rock is a coming four-year-old son of Rock Sand St. Priscilla dam of Priscillian, Practical, Stromboli and Pericles, by Rayon dOr St. Pauline, by St. Blaise, and she from Patience by Parmesan. St. Rock is to go into the stud in England and the four mares are to be mated with stallions there. Beldame is the dam of Consensa, Belfry, Eelamour and Belray. Cross-ways was for a time in France, where mated Avith Ethelbert, she produced the winners Curieux and Carousel. To Hastings she dropped the six seasons winner Curious. She was brought back from France in 1910. since which time the Chairman of the Jockey Club was not fortunate in raising foals from her. Delusion is a daughter of Meddler Faithful, by Longfellow. She was bred by the late William C. Whitney and is the dam of Defendum, Danger Rock, Delaneey and Deer Trap, all by Rock Sand, with the exception of Deer Trap, which comes from Trap Rock. Ferment is no stranger in Europe. She was sent to England in 1902, where she won the Manchester Handicap; to France in 1903, and returned to Kentucky in 1910. She is the dam of the good horses Fathom, Fenrock and Fernrock, the first named by Ethelbert and the last two by Rock Sand. Beldame, Crossways and Ferment arc all daughters of Octagon, son of Rayon dOr Ortegal, by Bend Or. Beldame comes from the No. 10 family under the Bruce Lowe system. Her dam was Bella Donna, by Hermit Bonnie Doon, a daughter of the great Queen Mary. Crossways and Ferment are members of .the No. 19 family, which has produced some nhcnomenal race horses and good sires. Cross-ways is from Lucy Cross, a daughter of St. Simon Verdigris, she by Springfield Griselda. Ferment is from Felicia, by The Ill-Used Felucca, daughter of Buccaneer Revival. In the car with these thoroughbreds. Miller will have the stallion Stalwart, which is going to R. II. McCarter Potters Pequest Stud in New Jersey, and a couple of yearlings the brown colt by Sain Miss Laetitia. which was purchased at the recent sale by James Fitzsiramons. and the chestnut coltV7 Contestor Fanny W. Fonso, which was sold this week by J. C. Milam to G. M. Garrison, of New York, to be trailed by William Jennings, of Baltimore.
