t tl: NEW RECORDS MADE IN THE RACING OF 1916 SCANTY IN 1 NUMBER AND UNIMPORTANT I • dji -~~~ "~ " *r* The racing of 1916 made but little impression on the already existing best records of the North American tracks. In fact, they were already so fast as to lie pretty hard to dent. The speedy non-stayer. Joe Blah*, made a new record for the minor distance of three and a half furlongs, when at Juarez on February 5. he ran the distance in 39 seconds, effacing the previous record of 39%. That is the only new record of the year and nothing to lie proud of. At limlico. November S. the foreign-bred horse. Chiclet, raced into a tie of tear with 1reen. Mainchance and Harry Shaw when he covered a mile and forty yards in 1:42. No other change was made and the big table of records at all distances is now as follows: Met. Horse. A. Wt. Track. Date.
