FIRST HEAVY RAIN AT JUAREZ. Track Drenched, but Improves Fast — Big Sunday Crowd Present — Mutuel Play Heavy. El Piso. Texas, December 31.— The first heavy rain of the season fob last night and the track was well drenched, but the grownd absorbed it fast and. with the bright, warm sunshine today, the going improved considerably. The usual big Sunday crowd wan on hand and the mutuels did the record business of the meeting. Owner W. A. Mikel was an arrival from his home in Ploomington. 111. Ho will look after his own horses for the remainder of the meeting. Jockey J. Howard was given five days by the stewards for rough riding in the fourth race.
