NOTED ENGLISH TRAINER IS DEAD. John F. Hallii k. one of the most widely known and popular "I tatter day trainers in England. died of lun- di~ a- December 21, aged 53. He was quite siicccs-fiil in his avocation, but never suc-cei ded in carrying off any of the five classics. He was hopeful of doing so with the fine colt Greenback in the case of the Kpsom Derby of 1910. but his charge was beaten a neck by I.emberg in a olos,. finish. He was especially noted as a developer of good riders. Among those who served an apprenticeship with him being the brothers Temple-man, H. Bobbins, J. Bvaas, H. Watts, p.. Qaraaar, F. Painty and P. Smith.
