+, + PERCENTAGE OF WINNING FAVORITE WORKS OUT ABOUT THE SAME FROM YEAR TO YEAR i 4, _ + It is an interesting feature of racing to observe that year in and year out the percentage of winning favorite remains practically the name. It is a law of the sport from which there is but the scantest variation. Thus with 5.090 races run in 1915 the percentage was .41. while in 1910 5.105 races were run and the percentage was the same. That is consistency enough for anybody. The percentage of a track may vary from one year to another, but it does not seem to affect the general result. At Churchill Downs in 1915 the percentage of winning favorites was .34. while last year it was .50. but this difference was compensated for elsewhere.
