RACING IMPROVEMENT IN GERMANY. Reports of Last Year Show Decided Gain During the Season of 1916. A report of the racing conditions in German stables daring 1010, the second year of the war. a decided Improvement, as the total stakes amounted to fOO.TBOl. compared with ttO.**flO in 1915. whin tin re were only few racing meets. In 1014, until the outbreak of the war. the stakes divided ranched only fir. M0. so that 1010 shows an improvement of half a million marks. In 1013, the last peace year, there was as much as ,575,000 offered as prizes for flat races. The slakes for 1314 were almost evenly divided among the winning stables, none of them playing an exceptional role. Since the Lindenstaedt stable, with forty horses. is the largest in Germany, it hi obvieaa that his winnings will barely cover the great cost of racing in war time, when oats and hay have reached highest prices, not to mention other lacn eslug expense-.
