SEVERE LOSS TO CAPTAIN E. B. CASSATT. Philadelphia. Pa.. March 13.— A fire of apparently incendiary origin, destroyed four broodmares be longing to Captain K. B. Cassatt at the hitters Chesterbrook Farm. near Berwyn. Pa., Sunday night. They were Miss Perigord. Sententious, l.iti gant and Laconic, and all were expected to produce foals within the next few days. Miss IVrigord is the dam of Cuddle Ip. Trainer Simon Healy said that the fire was undoubtedly of incendiary origin. I similar blaze having taken place in one of the other barns the night before. At that time all the thoroughbreds were driven away. On Sunday night sixteen horses wen- rescued. Neither trainer Healy nor manager R. A. Colgan of the Cassatt estate, can account for the motive of the incendiary. Cap tain Cassatt is visiting It. T. Wilson at the hitters South Carolina estate.
