CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. J. J. MeCafTerty will race a stable of horses in 1 the east this season. William Beckett, a veteran trainer, will handle the horses of Robert E. Heady this season. The wife of James Mara, formerly well-known as il steeplechase rider, died at Sheepshead Bay last t week. As formerly, the Westchester Racing Association will have a free field on all holidays, during its meeting this year. A. K. Maiomber. it is said, plans to establish 1 a branch breeding establishment in California, probably at I.urlingame. At James Butlers East View Stud, last Saturday, the bay mare Jingling, by Ben Brush — Jessant. . foaled a bay filly, sired by Out of Reach. Mrs. Lara Hill of Hot Springs. Ark., writes tin . newspaper that sin is the owner of a half interest in Roadmastcr. that the horse was taken from 1 Bowie last fall by T. H. Ryan and that the present 1 programmed owner. A. C. Donahue, has iier acquired her interest in the animal. Of the horses in W. L. Olivers charge at Bowie. Harper will race for Miss Mazie Oliver; Republican and Seurpia II.. for Mrs. K. Arlington, and the Best Man and Theyre Oft II.. for Frank L. • and Theodore Schneider, while Keweaaau Eel I.ond. Billy Oliver and Tandstickor will bear the colors of 1 their trainer.
