HORSES FROM HAVANA REACH BOWIE. Mike Daly Brings Stable of Cuban Owner to Maryland Track — R. T. Wilsons String Arrives. V Baltimore. Md.. March 28.— "Little Mike" Daly has arrived at Bowie from Havana with the horses he ", managed in Cuba for August Lezama and Alberto Al-ram, and aai taken quarters at Bowie. Libyan Sands and Delaneey. both sons of Rock Sand and recruits from the stable August Belmont campaigned in New York and Maryland last year, are the best in the string. With these four-year-olds and the veteran sprinter Pierrot, and the three -year-olds Shoot lag I Star, a son of Star Sheet — Bonnie Blue II. ; Tough I keepsie, a son of Hastings — Poeketpiece. and Fran- l scella. a filly by Plaudit. Daly won eleven races i at Oriental Park. He declares that Libyan Sands I and nelaneey are vastly improved and predicts I that they will hold their own with the best that : show at Bowie. i Daly will not transfer O. A. Midlers veteran e campaigners Flittergold and Fenmouse. both of which 1 raced with conspicuous success at Bowie last spring, from their Benning quarters. All of them importations from ireat Britain , of last year, the Browne youngsters have trained at Palmetto Park, which has become popular in the . last three or four years as a wintering place for eastern horses. They have hail a special preparation for Bowie, and the other Maryland meetings, ami one or two of them have shown stake-horse speed in work. The Browne youngsters are Winsomvera. a bay colt by Winstaiiley — Talavera: Irish King, a bay colt by Orpiment — Soligena: African Arrow, a bay colt by Javelin — African Slave: Low Degree, a chestnut filly I by I.langibby Elevation, and Laad I.uhb-r. a bay colt I by Juggernaut — Mast Head. Last .year most of the Baalish two yeai -olds that raced on American tracks i ■en so backward as to bare been ahaeat a aegligl ! hat quantity in juvenile rating. These youngsters have not. of course, been tried under colors, but | they have slioyvn nothing that would indicate that , they will not race from the start. They are generous with their speed and quick at the starting gate. Not one of them has developed the bucking habit, which so seriously interfered with the usefulness of the British racers that found shelter in many American stables last year.
