Matt Winn is visiting this city for a few th..s prior to a trip lo Laurel when he goes hack to Louisville. "I should not 1 i.rprised to see at least fifteen starters in the Derby," said he. "ami what is most gratifying to me is tie way that the owners all think they are going to win. The track at the starting point, will provide for about twenty horses. I really cannot predict Which horse will even be favorite, they are all working so much alike ami all look so good. It would not surprise me in the least to see some almost uiituoiight of horse win. "We an- going to have another horse race on Derby Day that will attract attention for the four-year-olds and over, at a mile and a sixteenth. Several owners have consented to enter and we shall have Roainer. Old Rosebud. Boots ami C.donel Veaale among the starters, all to carry 122 pounds. This will make quite a horse race, as an appearance bcloio the Derby." A numUr of spec ial parties are being arranged to leave here f.,r the Derby, headed by II. P. Whilney, P. J. Uwyer and Andrew Miller. The Churchill Downs Clubhouse, on the opening day of the LowieriBe meeting, will resemble the Belmont Park enclosure. Jefferson Livingsion is at the Waldorf. He will race his horses in Kentucky until the opening of Empire City, from which pafctt he will go to Saratoga.
