RENO TO HAVE AN AUTUMN MEETING. Wingfield Buys Atheling and English Broodmares to Reinforce His Nevada Stock Farm. San Francisco, Cal., July 0. Reno had such a successful race meeting from June 30 to July 4, that the business men of the Navada town have gone nliead with arrangements for twenty-five days of the sport, to commence in September. The date lias been set for September 11, with the following week nt Fallon, whore the Nevada State Fair will be held. Then the horses will return to Reno and finish out the meeting. Racing is popular in Reno, n crowd of over .1,000 turning out July 4, with 0,000 passing through the pari-mutuel machines. The war is not stopping George W. Wingfield from building up Ids thoroughbred stock. He lias concluded negotiations for Atheling, the four-year-old son of Desmond Wood Daisy, that was unbeaten as a two-year-old on the English tracks. Two English-bred broodmares and some imported sheep and cattle will also be brought to the Nevada Stock Farm from England by Wingfield. Earl Pool, who was the leading jockey at Tijuana in 101C, but fell down last year, has been secured to ride for Wingfields stable that is at present campaigning in the cast.- Pool left here recently to report to George Berry and do the stable riding.
