With an increase of .twenty-five per cent In all departments over any preceding day since the inauguration of the meeting here, the management had cause this afternoon for jubilation, as It indicates that the venture will result "in financial success, as well us blazing an enduring racing trail in this section. The attendance was greatly in excess of that of yesterday, and this, too, in spite of threatening weather and intermittent showers during the latter part of the afternoon. In the throng were many ladies, who showed considerable interest in the sport and attending incidents. The racing was highly exciting with close finishes in nearly all the dashes. The most interest was displayed in the sixth race, the only one at over a mile carded. In it Virginia W. triumphed in rather handy fashion, after suffering Jessie Louise to show the way until turning into the stretch. The Kecne Bros. Petrovna, which as a two-year-old gave much promise, but failed to live up to her early form, furnished an upset when she showed the way to a good band that started and won at a long price. Eastern Princess, a recent arrival from Latonia, scored a lucky victory in the second race when she just lasted to outstay Leta. The latter was much the best, but a slow beginning, coupled with being forced to go wide, caused her defeat. Martre, an overwhelming choice, succeded In the third race by a close margin, with King K. leading the others. Scarlet Oaks got away to a flying start in the fourth race and it enabled her to lead for the entire way. Siie was ridden by E. Pool, and it marked the first time in the saddle for him in a long time. He was suspended by the starter for three days for disobedience at the post. Jockeys Taylor and Hoag were each suspended for three days by Judge Murphy for rough riding.
