New York, July 19. John Sanford scored his second two-year-old stake victory of the season, when his home-bred filly Wawbeek just lasted long enough to defeat L. S. Thompsons Bosie OGrady in what proved the closest finish of the afternoon in the Demoiselle Stakes, the feature race of the afternoons racing at Yonkers. A. II. Morris Quietude, after displaying a high turn of early speed, tired badly at the end, but lasted long enough to save third place from Mrs. Trub-bel. Quietude proved quickest at the start, but after beginning in front, was quickly joined by Wawbeek and this pair set ont to make the running. Itosie OGrady, after leaving the barrier slowly, raced into third place early and, while rounding the last turn, moved up with a rush that prophesied victory. All this time Wawbeek was racing fast next to the rail and made a close turn for home, a move that saved many lengths. Robinson took Bosie OGrady to the outside in search of firmer footing and, once straightened away, tho Thompson filly moved up with another mighty rush. At the end she was going by far the faster of the first two and, when beyond the winning line, was going away. Quietude.! early efforts told right at the ; end. - f The Demoiselle Stakes was run for the sixth time today and its brief history follows: Year. Winner. Wt. Jockey. Val.
