CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. W. D. Bernhardt of New Orleans has turned over the two-year-old filly Alma Louise to John Powers, who will train her in the future. The Saratoga Racing Association has included nine stake races for two-year-olds during its meeting at the Spa, with the Hopeful Stakes, the most valuable stake of the year, as the topliner. The deaths of the following horses have been reported to the Jockey Club: First Choice, eh. c, 3, by Chilton Fuss; Spartacus, br. c. 3, by Black Sand Glorita. and Trouble Fete, b. c, 4, by Meddler or Troubled Waters Irish Eyes. The resignation of II. A. Buck as publisher of the Racing Calendar on account of ill health has been accepted by the Jockey Club, and Algernon Daingerfield, assistant secretary of the Jockey Club was Instructed to assume the publication of the Racing Calendar. For the opening day of the Saratoga meeting three stake races are provided, the Shillelah Steeplechase Handicap with ,000 added; the Flash Stakes, for two-year-olds, with a guaranteed value of ,500, and the Saratoga Handicap, with a guaranteed cash value of 1917.sh,000. 1
