AN UNLUCKY BARGAIN FOR KNIGHT F. D. Knight in 1915 bred Claudia, Ncthersole, Ruby Nethersble and Busy Lass to Uncle on the shares. Headley and Miller were to have an option on the foals at weaning time at 500 each. They bought the weanlings. These four yearlings sold for 4,000 at Saratoga last Friday, while Ferrol, the dam of the highest priced yearling in the Headley and Miller consignment, was purchased in January. 1910, -of E. L. Davis for ,000. Ferrol is by Illmyar, which led Mr. Davis to breed her to Uncle, as Uncles most brilliant success has been achieved with the Himyar mare, Ivory Bells, the dam. of Old Sosebud,
