HORSEMEN FACE SHORTAGE OF CARS Kay Take Couple of Weeks Before All Stables Aro Able to Leave Saratoga. By Ed Cole. Saratoga, N. Y., August 29. William A. Pinker-ton has been complimented by District Attorney Andrus, Judge McKelvy and Sheriff Dodge, who look after the legal affairs of Saratoga, for the way the meeting just closing has been conducted by the Pinkerton forces. The absence of undesirables has been marked in the courts in which Judge McKelvy is, due to vigilance of the Pinker-tons and the local officials. John W. Schorr is considerably upset by not getting a car to ship away. "I have had my order in for two weeks for September 1, but it is not a sure thing that I get it," said Mr. S.chorri "Things are bad in the shipping line and I am afraid it will take a couple of weeks before the last horseman gets away." Barney Schreiber leaves for St. Louis tomorrow to attend the meeting there and lend what aid he can to make it a success. It hardly looks .to be in the cards when one ponders over the results at Saratoga. Mr. Belmont with his big stable of horses, has won one race with Stromboli. .Mr, Whitney has taken down two stakes with Rickety and Happy Go "Lucky. Ed. Bradley brought a stable: of thirty horses and has not earned a bracket. On the other hand Capt. E. B. Cassatt brought only a handfiil of horses and won two races in one day with Garbage and Buckboard. . Jimmy Johnson, thp trainer of Old Salt mounted the horse after his fall in the steeplechase and tried to gather third money. He is evidently not acquainted with the rules adopted four years ago, which makes it compulsory that the rider of a liorse is the only one- who can remount and still be a participant in the race. . ,
