TRIBUTE TO THE LATE JOHN J. GRAHAM By Ed Cole. Saratoga, N. Y., August 29. When John J. Graham died at his Syosset home, Long Island, last Saturday, racing lost one of its greatest admirers and staunchest supporters. It can have no truer friend, neither can John Grahams friends find another associate to fill the vacancy. He was a man of sound reasoning and possessed broad-minded ideas rarely found in the present generation. Fearless in all his transactions was be when be knew the .community was to be benefited by any act of justice. Main times he has gone far out of his way to lend a helping hand to those who were struggling at the : mercy of the powerful. It was acts of this kind that made him the friend of all who knew him. The poorer the person the greater, stride would he take 1 to be on time when needed. Only those -who knew him well can tell the magnitude of his kindly spirit, for he never flaunted his good deeds to the world. His conscience was his recompense. He : courted no worldly praise. Pity it is that there are - not more men like Judge John Graham in this i troublesome world. He leaves an empty chair that, sorry "to say, will be hard to fill.
