HAVRE DE GRACE OPENING Fall Meeting of Wonderful Promise Begins Today. Horses Plentiful and of Good Quality Excellent Stake Program Provided. By T. K. Lynch. m Baltimore, Md., September 10. Havre de Grace inaugurates tomorrow the regular fall racing campaign for Maryland, which, opening with the Harford county meeting, goes on to Laurel and Pim-lico and winds up November 30 at Bowie, in all seventy days racing. At present it looks as if the coming season would be the greatest in the racing annals of Maryland. A greater number of horses is now in sight than has been known for many years and they show a considerable improvement in quality over those that have been seen in the immediate past. The Maryland tracks all of them have increased the value of their stakes and purses, so that now horsemen are as liberally treated in this state ;is in any other in the country. This will naturally hring to this section the cream of the talent anil the "sport of kings" promises to be seen in its finest dress right hero in Maryland this fall. Although Havre dc Grace will have opposition at Jlelmont Park, it will make no difference to the Harford Association, which is already assured of more horses than it can comfortably take care of. A fine array of stake races is on the Havre do Grace program, with big added money and the purses in the overnight races are none of less value than 00. Provision has been made for cross-country races sinnd a steeplechase is on the program nearly every day. A fine band of jumpers is now at the course and the best cross-country horses in training will take part. The track has been deep in dust, but the rain of the last day or two has put it in good order and there is no reason why the best horses should not enter irom the word go.
