Odom, the Cleveland stable, in the charge of Frank Began, the stable of James McClelland, of which Kimball latterson is trainer, and the variously owned band of the stable of Michael Daly, were among the arrivals at Havre de Grace today where things are shaping up satisfactorily for the inauguration of the autumn racing season in Maryland. The best of Odom s horses are St. Isidore, the sprinter Marse Henry, the three-year-olds Milkman, Ed Roche. Tranby and Felucca and the two-year-old Tippity itchet, the same which A. K. Macomber tilted from ,300 to ,000 after his victory last Thursday in a selling race at Belmont Park and which George Smith, the owner of the Brighton stable was glad to protect. There is no fitter string of horses in Marvland than these runners of the Brighton stable. "They Avere in rare form at Aqueduct and Yonkers in midsummer and Odom has brought back their edge by resting them through August. St. Isidore, a race horse of high speed to which all tracks look alike, is a sure starter in the Old Bay Handicap on Tuesday, and, unless the plans of the stable miscarry, he will go. later on, in the Chesterbrook and the Havre de Grace. Michael Dalys best performers are Flittcrgold, which belongs to G. A. Muller of Philadelphia; Fen-lle v,,luv" Mr- 3IlllIer sold at Saratoga to Mrs. Walter M. Whimsy, Dorcas and the two-vear-ofd Matinee Idol are the best of the Cleveland Stables racers. The most valuable member of the McClelland string will not be able to do any racing at Havre de Grace, not that McClelland and Patterson would bo willing to take a chance with him. The horse in question is a yearling and American tracks do not offer races for yearlings. This youngster is a colt by Vulcain, a brilliant son of Rock Sand, which, won distinction in France under the silks of August Belmont and the English mare Rose Tree II McClelland paid 0,000 for the youngster at public auction at Saratoga in August, since winch time he has turnpd down three offers for him, one of 2,000, one of 5,000 and one of 8, ?i oiaa 3Ir McClcllands intention to break f1.1,1? 510,000 youngster at Havre de Grace and exhibit linn once or twice in the paddock, for lie is a youngster of rare beauty, as regards conformation and carriage. ONLY FOUR IN McCLELLAND STRING. The members of the McClelland string that will race at Havre de Grace are the two-year-old June Bug, a winner at every metropolitan track this year; the three -year-old Koyal Writ, which is just coming to hand, after an accident that has kept him in his stable since the Havre de Grace spring meeting; the selling plater Madame Herrmann and tje two-year-old I!o Hells, which is the property of R. Tiiis year, for the first time since Havre de Grace track became an important eastern racing place, the Harford races will have New York competition. The Westchester Associations spring meeting will continue until next Saturday and after that there will be racing at Aqueduct. But this competition will be a help rather than a handicap to the Harford meeting. Because of the shutting off of racing in Canada on August 1, as a military measure, there are more horses in the United States just now than Havre de Grace, or any other one track, could possibly provide for. Already every stall at the Harford Associations plant is bespoken and most of the private stables in the town and in the neighborhood of the track have temporary thoroughbred occupants. Altogether there are about nine hundred racers here ready for the colors.
