JAMES ROWES REPORT FAVORABLE New York, December 21. James Rowe was in the city a day or two ago, having come from Red Bank, N. J., on a Christmas shopping tour. He reports everything in good shape at Mr. Whitneys farm, and expects the first foal about the middle of January. "We have a fine band of horses, broodmares and racing material, and there will be plenty of youngsters for sale next year. "I have just received a letter from Joe Notter, who is now in New Orleans," said Mr. Rowe. "He is getting down in weight so that he can ride at about 115 pounds. Joe will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to the stable if the weights are kept high enough to give him two or three mounts a day. There are few riders who show more intelligence in handling a horse. Robinson is a fine rider also, but be is a trifle slow at the post. He makes up for that though in other ways. Not only is he a first-class jockey, but he has a personality that is exceptional. Robinson will do our riding next year, and will report when called upon, probably after Hot Springs closes. He may go to Kentucky if Mr. Whitney decides to send anything there, in fact, he may go there anyhow, as his services are much in demand." Mr. Rowe had only moderate luck -vith Mr. Whitneys stable last year, but the wizard trainer has greater hopes of success for the coming year.
