PAPPS CONDITION PLEASES TRAINER New York, December 21. That Maxey Hirsch is well pleased with the development of Papp, the star two-year-old of the Loft stable, can be told by his attitude when the subject of three-year-olds for next year is under discussion. Maxey is much enthused over his success with Papp as a two-year-old and there Is no doubt in his mind that the Loft colt will more than hold his own in the three-year-old division in 1918. "There is no reason why lie wont improve," said Papps trainer, answering the question of another horseman. "He is big and healthy, eats as much as any horse and is decidedly improved in his disposition. Some folks think he will not stay a route. They will think differently long before the next Saratoga meeting, or I am much mistaken. A friend wagered me a hat that Tippity Witchet would beat Papp the first time they- meet at a mile or more. Im going to keep my eye on that fellow so he wont get out of my sight. Papp is doing mighty fine and, barring sickness, Ill show you about as nice a looking three-yeur-old as youd wish to see when the season opens next year. Unless there are some changes in plans, Papp will be listed as one of the probable starters in the Kentucky Derby."
