J. E. MADDEN INSPECTS HIS YEARLINGS Has Thirty-Three Stalled at Churchill Downs New Louisville Club Donates to Red Cross. Louisville, Ky., December 25. John E. Madden came over today from Lexington with a party of friends, and with them he spent part of the afternoon looking over the thirty-three yearlings belonging to Mr. Madden, and being trained by "William "Chuck" Walker at Churchill Downs. The youngsters are pretty well advanced in their kindergarten training, and their appearance was the source of much satisfaction to their owner. During the day the party was joined by Capt. J. E. Madden, Jr., Mr. Maddens eldest son, who is stationed at Camp Taylor, near this city. Trainer Thomas Murphy, in charge of the stable of A. K. Maconibcr. at Churchill Downs, left today for his home in Brooklyn, where he will spend Christmas with his family. Before leaving he presented each one of the twenty-two stable hands witii a crisp ten-dollar bill, as a Christmas present from Mr. Macomber, who is at his home in California, and was unable to be here to make the presentation in person. The management of the New Louisville Jockey Club, through track superintendent Tom Young, today swelled the Bed Cross Fund by considerably over 00, which amount was turned over to the local committee in charge of raising funds for this worthy charity. Every employe of the track, -and all of the horsemen and stable hands gladly donated.
