T f I COMPLETE RACING STATISTICS OF CUBA-AMERICAN JOCKEY l CLUBS MOST SUCCESSFUL WINTER MEETING l + + What proved to lie the most successful winter meeting conducted by the Cuba -American Jockey Club since racing was established at Oriental Park in 1915 came to an end last Sunday after 105 davs of racing, extending from November 29. 1917. to March 31. 1918. During that jieriod US rac-es were decided and the total money distribution in stakes and purses amounted to the good sum of 85,000. a daily average of .714.S«. The racing itself was the best ever witnessed on the island and that despite the ordinary calibre of the horses, with few exceptions, engaged in the sport. The attendance was surprisingly large throughout the winter and the support of the Cubans in the absence of tourists from this country was one of the striking features of the meeting, auguring well for the future of Oriental Park as a great winter racing point. . ] • I , i Two Kentucky turfmen carried off the lions share of the purses at Oriental Park.
