ยป TERSE COMMENT ON STOPPING RACING Many expressions have been made concerning the folly of stopping racing in Kentucky and the opinions of many have been voiced concerning such a procedure, but none is more to Ihe point than that expressed by Algernon Daingerfield, assistant secretary of the Jockey Club. "Racing is the acknowledged test of the supremacy of the fitness of the thoroughbred horse as a sire." says Mr. Daingerfield, "and the thoroughbred horse js the acknowledged and accepted sire for cavalry and light artillery horses and in no department of our government were we more unprepared than ia a supply of proper cavalry and light artilleiy horses. "Racing is continued in Germany, France and England. The War Ministry Board of England, in de-"lining to stop racing, said: *In view of the national imiKirlanee of racing to breeding, it is unwise to advise the cessation of racing. In France, war stricken as she is, racing is continued each year in what is called the breeders elimination tests. Germany continues all her big stake features."
