THE DANGEROUS AGE When is the dangerous age Always a little around the corner from where your particular phil ¬ osopher happens to be located says the cynic But there are generations of some standing and the war is adding a new and important one true for men at any rate it is contended contendedThis This particular dangerous age was described by a French lieutenant as beginning around forty and being those years when a man still feels young and can in fact as a result of his years experience do everything more skillfully than ever before in his life but cannot in a purely physical contest main ¬ tain his skill or his pace The sense of ability in these dangerous years is great and real but fatally deceptive You feel better than ever before in your life And you are better while you last lastDeceptive Deceptive treacherous years they are rather than necessarily dangerous For it is only on the purely physical side that the failure comes Mentally a man grown or should grow better and better And a woman too If you would go to war you must be sure that your task does not ask the impossible of your body bodyCareers Careers by all menus Start them whenever you will at CC as did Ie Morgan if you prefer The more dangerous the year the better It is only the bayonet and airplane and such like toys of youth that must be denied your old codger of 40 odd New York Tribune
