RACING IN MESOPOTAMIA The spring meeting of the Bagdad Sporting Club was held on Thursday and Friday June 6 and 7 and brought out a lot of runners A diversified program was presented including the Bagdad Derby run over about a mile and a quarter Lieut Col E PercySmiths mare Aqueduct was made favorite and won from Major Beckleys Bolshevik with Capt L O Gills Australia Jane third IJeutCoi PercySmith also took the Arab Plate for Arab ponies with Bint An interesting race was the Pony Steeplechase over about two miles which Capt de WendFenton took with his mare Ginger which started favorite and won by twenty lengths and the Fame owner was second for the Novice Plate about fiveeighths finishing a couple of lengths behind Capt J W D Evans Punch which was the favorite Punch also won the Horse Handicap run orer about u mile
