THREE YEARS SINCE EDITH CAVELL DIED It was three years ago on Saturday since Edith Cavell was executed in Brussels and crpwded as have these three years been beyond any other three years in history their passage has done little or nothing to remove from the minds of the British people the horror and hatred that this act inspired The murder of Edith Cavell stands out as one of the great crimes of flic war one of the things that is not to be forgiven cither now or by posterity The act was a lightningflash that revealed the mind of Germany to the world that showed Germany to be different from other nations the German soldier not like oilier soldiers To say that the execution of Edith Cavell was a judicial murder is to waste a word It was just a murder It had not the ex ¬ cuse that it benefited the tnurderers Nothing that Edith Cavell did or could do living would have counted in the slightest degree against Geniiuny Dying she is more formidable to Germany tlian an enemy army corps Her wraith wllr be a spectre to German generations yet unborn
