CUBAN RACING OFFICIALS SELECTED Laurel Md October 31 H D Brown general manager of tlie CubaAmerican Jockey Club who has been here for several days perfecting plans for the coming winter meeting to be hPii at oriental Park Cuba this winter announced today that with the selection of William Shelley as presiding judge j and associate handicapper the staff of officials had j been completed Judge Shelley who succeeds C j Cornehlsen is the only change in the efficient staff who were at the Cuban course last winter James j F Milton will again do the starting C J Fitz Gerald will be the presiding steward Charles Lans j dale associate steward and Martin Xathanson rac ing secretary secretaryMessrs Messrs Fitz Gerald and Xathanson are Mr Shel ¬ leys associates on tlie board of handicappers j The first shipment to leave here for Cuba is scheduled to depart some day next week and judg ing from the calibre of horses which will participate In the racing there the meeting will be of a higher j class than any of its predecessors As in previous seasons speculation will be by both mutuel machines and the books with the old time slates up There are already in Cuba about i 150 horses awaiting the opening
