ASTONISHING SELLING RACE RAISES An encouraging circumstance in .connection with English racing is the remarkably hili sums obtained for the winners of selling plates at Newmarket, these sales indicating the strong belief these purchasers must entertain as to the future of the sport. At the first and second July meetings six two-year-olds were offered after winning their races, and they made an aggregate of 7,790. This average of ,905 is considerably higher than pre-war records. Mr. Farquharsons Fussy, bought in for 5,125, lowered the total. Green Fruit, a daughter of Greenback Cherry Agnes, made ,035; I.ongdon, a son of Long Set Lady Bountiful, ,085.
