BONDAGE IN FRONT AGAIN .. Defeats Courtship in the Allenby Handicap in a Canter. " " Rodriguez Bides Three Winners Change. in Control of Canadian Tracks Reported. NEW ORLEANS. La., February 15. The colors of Mrs. Janies Arthur were much in the limelight, Bondage and Cliarlje Leydecker accounting for the principal races curded.- for the afternoon. Jockey Rodriguez, under contract to the stable, also figured, extensively in the proceedings, for, in addition to having the mounts on his- employers horses, also piloted Buford to victory iu the f iftii race. Bond age was among the starters in the Allenby Handi- cap at a mile and an eighth and having a net value of fl,270 to the winner. He accounted for this race with the greatest of ease and if he can continue in Ills present good form when he reaches the east he might prove a formidable factor in the decision of the stakes and purses he will start in. Withdrawals reduced the field in the race to only Tour starters and it was looked upon as a duel between Bondage and Courtship, but Bondage left no room for doubt as to his superiority by coming away in the . stretch to win in a canter. Courtship outstayed, Barry Shannon for second place and Hanovla was a distant follower. The secondary feature, a handicap at five and a half furlongs for the best sprinters in these parts, was a keenly run" affair; with Charlie" Leydeckef coming away in the last sixteenth to outstay Blackie, Daw and W. W. Hastings. Tiie latter showed fine , speed by leading for. thefiretflvu.- -srifiiff "pSiit :t3eiiLifrJng"aild froidiassed" by Uie. Reading pair. Close finishes, .nfarked the running of . all the races, beginning with1 the opening dash. In which Minute Mnn just managed to beat Mile. Dazic home by a nose. The Fellowes filly might have reversed the decision, witli; the whmer but for suf.. fering from OBriens tactics" forcing her out wide. C. A. Comiskey and Reilloc staged a stirring stretch drive in the second race, and 0. A. Comiskey just managed to- stick it out long enough to win by- a nose. Buford, in the fifth race, had to be ridden to the limit, and just managed to win by a npek from Warsaw. Had Hhe latter had a clear" cohrse he would probably have triumphed. The sixth race resulted in a flukey win for Saypnarra. whjch just managed to outstay labyan Sands and Sir Oliver. The latter was probably the best, but the diminutive Bell could not kep him out from the rail, and had he. been able to. be of any help to him near the end he would "have won. The horse and rider returned to the stand witli a liberal application of whitewash they had accumulated as a result of contact with the fence during the race. HAIR LINE FINISH IN LAST RACE. The "closing race, in which fourteen started, also produced a hair line linish. Kenward getting up in the lust stride to beat Paula V. .Kenward was the medium"nfa betting coup and the layers were hard lilt by his victory. A record attendance was on hand to view the , racing this af tprnppn. The track wirs in the lK?st condition that it lias beeii in this winter and contributed vastly toward the good sport. Charles Primrose has been advised that Kenneth Van Allen and Irving-II. Wheatcroft hare Tiecnred control if the stock iu the Devonshire and Mount Royal tracks respectively, located iu Windsor and Montreal. The control of .these tracks formerly rested 4 hf Gftnrt HuRhM.rofnfe ilmf Thomas Difgan. It is said that a number of Toronto persons are indentlfied with the new people now iu control of, the tracks. The judges are still investigating the acrobatic performances of the mare Eulogy and as a result of J. B. Goodmans suspension Liberator and Bribed Voter from Ills stable were absentees from the respective races in which they were carded to start. Goodman informed the judges that he did not wager 011 the mare, aud Dr. Kyle who examined her immediately after the race, found nothing unnatural with her condition and she cooled out surprisingly fast. t :Manv. of..th.e Iionicinun here have received circulars f rom abrokerage Hrm of- Louisville soliciting stock subscriptions in the recently banded Kentucky tracks.- A number of .the- owners have signified an intention of subscribing. Entries to the- Washington Birthday Handicap, to be run next Saturday, closed this afternoon with fourteen nominations, comprising the best in tliese parts. Elizabeth M which was held in high regard by the late AV. C. Whitney, died recently in Philadelphia, according to advices just received here. Milda, owned by John W. Schorr, has been turned over to D. T. Morris to be raced during the remainder of the season here. Bolsters absence from the handicap this afternoon was due to lameness. Gallant Lad will not be a starter here again, according to his owiier, as the horse came out of his race yesterday in a bad way.
