NO SYMPATHY FOR JOCKEY BUXTON NEW ORLEANS, La.. February 15. The announcement during the week past that jockey M, Buxton would not be permitted to ride any more at the meeting brought that rider - little sympathy from the army of racegoers, inasmuch as Buxtons riding of late had come in for a good deal of adverse criticism. It is not believed, however, that judge Murphy and his associates had fastened any criminal action upon Buxton in connection with his riding. His habits while away- from the track and his choice of associates are the chief factors in his undoing. , Much sympathy, however, was expressed for jockey F. Smith when the order withdrawing his license was made public. Smith is a clean-cut fellow of exemplary habits, and while his riding was not altogether what could be desired, nevertheless he had never been accused of any fraudulent practices He is but a. youngster and. has been riding but a few years. He started at Havana two winters ago, where he made good from the out-sot. Wliile- here he was -in charge of Harry Perkins, owner of a small stable.
