TWO DAUGHTERS OF PRINCE AHMED Both Bred by Late Senator Johnson Will Carry Deceased Turfmans Colors at Bowie BALTIMORE Md March 24 The colors of the late Senator Richard A Johnson president at the time of his sudden death last fall of the Maryiand State Fair Corporation which conducts racing at Laurel Park and member of the state senate for Howard County will be seen at Bowie track during the course of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Associations spring meeting Two fillies a two yearold and a threeyearold both daughters of Prince Ahmed and Madelaine L will bear the Johnson silks green set off with gray diamonds They arrived at Bowie a couple of days ago from the Johnson farm which is in Howard County not far from Laurel about ready for the colors colorsThese These youngsters were bred and raised by Senator Johnson Prince Ahmed their sire stood at Com ¬ mander J K L Ross1 Yarrow Brae Farm a few miles distant from the Johnson farm until last year when he was transferred to the Ross farm near Montreal Prince Ahmed an impressive individual of the Hanover type was a mighty good race horse and he breeds to type There are several promising youngsters claiming him for sire in the stable H G Bedwcll is training for Commander Ross at Laurel Park ParkMadelaine Madelaine L the only thoroughbred matron at the Johnson farm is a superbly bred mare She is a product of Adolph Spreckels Napa Stud which is in California and a daughter of Solitaire II and Sevens Sevens a daughter of AVatercress ind Folly made herself famous by producing Dr Leggo one of the best racers ever bred in Cali ¬ fornia forniaLiberty Liberty Bond is tho name of the threeyearold which was highly tried last year but hurt u foot that accident preventing her from training The name chosen for the twoyearold is Sophie B Both are well grown and of good conformation and the threeyearold can run Not so much is known of the twoyearold which was not broken until last Deceml er and has not been tried for speed Liberty Bond and Sophie B will race in the name of Richard A Johnson Jr who has inherited Uis fathers liking for the thoroughbred
