G J LONGS RACING ESTABLISHMENT Trainer Pete Coyne Has a Bakers Dozen Taking Their Preliminary Work at Churchill Downs The racing establishment of George J Long one of the foremost of Kentuckys breeders and owners will enter upon the forthcoming spring campaign in Kentucky with exactly thirteen horses which number is far below the stables strength of recent years The stables twoyearold division which formerly was numerically strong is this year re luced to a mere handful of juveniles The older division of the stable has also been considerably reduced reducedThis This does not mean however that Mr Longs interest jn racing is on tle wane On the other hand he is just as Keen and as enthusiastic as he sver was This is evidenced by the fact that in spite of a recent attack of illness from which he has not entirely recovered lie finds time to visit his stable at Churchill Downs every morning to look over his horsesj and consult with his trainer Pete Coyne Mr Long disposed of practically all If last years yearlings produced at his Bashford Manor Farm and did not replace them by the purchase of others othersThe The fouryearold Freecutter which proved a good money winner in 1918 will be the stables main dependence this year He has been entered In alj the principal stakes for threeyearolds and over Jboth In Kentucky and at Saratoga Ocean Sweep another fourvearold is expected to show a good earning capacity this year The yearThe stable embraces eight threeyearolds half of the number having been named for the Kentucky Derby This quartet consists of the foreign breds Plzarro Constantino and Plumcot and the home ¬ bred Claremont The latter Is tho only one that raced as a twoyearold lie having won one race jn six starts The other threeyearolds in the stable are Retta B and Ulster Queeir both Ken ¬ tucky Oaks eligibles Lancelot and AAickford The last named has never faced the barrier in a race The raceThe stable has but three twoyearolds in training these being Nonlock bay colt by Sain Bashford Belle Royden bay colt by Sain Watoma and Orlova brown filly by Free Uince AMctorlu B BPete Pete Coyne who has been with Mr Long for many years has charge of the stable and under his expert handling the horses are progressing rapidly in their training and will be in fine trim when the season starts
