OLD ROSEBUD RETURNS IN TRIUMPH Noted Gelding makes His Second Reappearance on the Turf Under Auspicious Circumstances HAVRE DE GRACE Md April 25 Old Rose ¬ bud Frank Weirs old gelding the hero of many races east and west came back to the turf at Havre de Grace today after an absence from the track for eighteen months in a five and a half furlongs sprint race that had some really good horses opposing him Old Rosebud merely cantered all the way to win with his cars pricking and Dreyer looking back Old Rosebud never looked better bodily His legs were as clean apparently as when he was foaled Since he was last seen on the track at Aqueduct a yvar ago last fall when he won over good opposition he has been turned out at Mrs Livingstons Rancocas Farm When he was taken up this year he showed no signs of lameness and Frank Weir has given the old horse a prepara ¬ tion that has brought him back apparently the same great racer he was in the earlier days of his career It will be recalled that Old Rosebud once before was retired for a long period and when he made his reappearance won a long string of victories His showing in his first race this year seems to indicate that the winner of the 1914 Kentucky Derby may win additional honors on the track trackOpposed Opposed to Old Rosebud were Commander Ross threeyearold filly Milkmaid and Boniface a four yearold which Ross purchased at Saratoga last August They were the choices over Old Rosebud and there were other good ones in the nice including Mars Mouse and Straight Forward When it Came to racing Old Rosebud
